Bogota, Colombia

What an amazing city of contrasts!

But if I must… Green.

Wandering around what is the (broken) Concrete jungle of Bogota, you are never more than a few steps from a glimpse of the expansive mountains that surround this metropolis. I learnt quickly that watching the mountains instead of the traffic can be quite hazardous to your health, but I still couldn’t tear my eyes away from the green expanses of the Andes. Actually, I fell into a hole in the concrete jungle at one point – WATCH YOUR STEP HERE!!! 🙂

The city rises in the morning to a cloudy mist hugging the mountain tops that looks a lot like snow or hail hovering, but just teases with a brick chill across town. As the daytime sun appears, it brings only a little warmth but even better, brings the colors of the city and that deep green of the mountains alive.

La Caldelaria brings more traditional South American colours alive, with homes completely adorned in Azure Blues and Glowing Yellows. Craftsmen sell their textiles of the rainbow and then there is the candy.. sometimes I feel that I may myself turn apple red or grape purple with all that color in the candy I cant stop eating!
